Tour Overview

This extended Bhutan journey offers a deep exploration of the kingdom’s most important cultural, historical, and natural regions, stretching from the western valleys of Paro and Thimphu to the sacred heartland of Bumthang and the pristine Phobjikha Valley.

More about the route, places, and experience.

The journey then moves across the stunning Dochula Pass into the fertile Punakha Valley, home to one of Bhutan’s most magnificent dzongs, sacred temples, and peaceful river landscapes. Travelers also explore nearby spiritual sites and hillside monasteries that reflect Bhutan’s strong Buddhist heritage.

From Punakha, the route continues eastward through dramatic mountain passes into Trongsa and onward to Bumthang, the spiritual and cultural heart of Bhutan. This region is filled with ancient temples, sacred monasteries, royal fortresses, and legendary pilgrimage sites connected to Bhutan’s most important saints and historical figures.

The tour then continues to the tranquil Phobjikha (Gangtey) Valley, a glacial valley known for its untouched natural beauty and as the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes. Here, travelers experience peaceful village life, monastery visits, and scenic nature trails surrounded by alpine landscapes.

On the return journey toward Paro, travelers pass through Thimphu and revisit cultural highlights before continuing into Paro Valley, one of Bhutan’s most iconic regions. Paro offers a rich combination of heritage sites, fortress dzongs, riverside walks, and ancient temples.

A major highlight of the entire journey is the unforgettable hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliffside overlooking the Paro Valley. This sacred pilgrimage site represents the spiritual essence of Bhutan and offers a powerful combination of adventure, devotion, and breathtaking scenery.

The tour concludes in Paro, leaving travelers with a profound experience of Bhutan’s living culture, ancient traditions, spiritual depth, and unmatched Himalayan landscapes.
